DigitalAuthority.co was created to solve our own needs to establish our service based businesses online as an authority or expert in their niches. We had built our Commercial & Residential Cleaning Company and an Independent Financial Advisory Business the ‘Old-Fashioned’ way, networking and referrals.
Our entire marketing plan was dependent on us over-delivering on our services, asking for referrals and networking like crazy in the community. I was on the Board of the local Chamber of Commerce, involved everywhere to establish ourselves as a quality company that cares about our clients, their families and our community.
It was working well.. our companies were both growing and then life happened and our daughter was born with special needs. We could no longer market our business by spending hours and hours away from home, we had to find a way to transition online and market our services in a way that wasn’t reliant upon my time, in a way that was scalable.
Our research began, spending hour after hour consuming every possible thing on digital marketing, podcast after podcast, ebook after ebook, etc. After attempting to do everything myself, repeatedly hitting brick wall after brick wall, I realized that I was wasting my time, trying to fit a round peg into a square hole. I realized I couldn’t be a financial advisor, a CEO, an accountant, a writer, designer, coder, social media manager, a father and a husband all at the same time and the team building began.
As I filled in the gaps around my skills I quickly realized that this was what I was excited about, that there was a huge opportunity of people and businesses just like ours that need to transition their business online or they’d be facing of with their competition at a huge disadvantage.
I went from, 2011 not knowing what I blog post was to 2013 being afraid to tweet because of compliance as a financial advisor to knowing the ins and outs of digital marketing. Seeing all our clients asking questions and needing help with content and social media marketing, it was time to help them by establishing them as the Authority in their niche.
I’ve always been a Marketing and Sales Guy, now it’s simply online. It’s taking those people and relationship skills online to help Companies establish their brand and grow their revenue by being the Authority that their prospects and clients know, like and trust.
